A beautiful reminder! I agree with the independent school parents groups, I found a Steiner parents group and it was the most welcoming compassionate place. It truly means the world to find a community or group of people who you can relate too in postpartum especially.

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for your lovely comment, Ashleigh. I attended a Steiner playgroup with my firstborn and it was more valuable for me than him, I’m sure x

Thanks, Julia. Book publicity is quite exhausting so there’s a part of me that will be happy when it’s over and I can return to my winter cocoon x

I am so looking forward to your new book Jodi.

My best purchase in preparation for baby #1 was a chest freezer. Before baby #2 I filled it with lots of nourishing foods using recipes from the lovely doula community (plus frozen meals gifted from work colleagues). Baby #2 is now one month old and I am still pulling out meals and snacks each day. Lifesaving.

I absolutely agree with the need to surrender and accept help. I have found it very hard because our society is set up with such independent family units and it is easy to think we need to do it all ourselves. But this time around, I have not been too proud to ask for help even though it is an inconvenience to others. This has opened up time for me to just lie on the lounge to rest and give my baby the physical comfort she needs.
